New U's midfielder Cole Skuse is excited for his fresh start with the club, and looking forward to getting the season underway.
"You always step into a bit of an unknown in the first game of the season, but we are really excited by what could potentially happen this season."
The thoughts of Hayden Mullins' first summer signing, Cole Skuse, who joined Colchester United on a two-year deal after leaving Suffolk neighbours, Ipswich Town, at the end of last season.
The experienced thirty-five-year-old midfielder was the first of a few of his former Ipswich teammates to make the move into North Essex, with familiar faces scattered throughout the changing rooms for the first competitive game this season.
"To come here and have a fresh start with some familiar faces and some unfamiliar faces has been very nice, it has been very welcoming. It's been a real good start for me here.
"Hayden was laying out what he wants and what he demands from a group of individuals. I think that's come into fruition throughout pre-season, and it looks as though he's put his stamp on the team."
Making the long journey up to Carlisle for the first game of the season, Skuse is excited by the return of fans, especially those who are joining the club in the first game of the season.
"It's been surreal. Even in the pre-season friendlies, you see young kids who have missed out on eighteen months of watching football. To have everyone back in will be a joy."
