The U's will come up against the side where it all began for Luke Chambers in 2003, with the visit of Northampton Town to the JobServe Community Stadium this weekend.
Colchester United will take on Northampton Town on Saturday afternoon for the first home league game of the season, the club where it all started for Luke Chambers.
Making his debut for the Cobblers in 2003, Chambers has gone on to make almost 800 professional appearances for four clubs, with his debut for Colchester United coming last weekend at Carlisle United.
Speaking ahead of this weekend's match, Chambers has been impressed with what he has seen at the start of this season.
"The performances have been encouraging, obviously to start the league campaign with a draw away at Carlisle was always going to be a positive result, however you want to look at it. There were lots of positives in the game and we are looking forward to ticking off as many games as quickly as possible.
"We feel we are in a good place as a group, the manager and the staff are all looking in the same direction at the moment and long may that continue.
"We're looking for our first win at the weekend, but there's lots of things that we have done and we have worked on that have been coming to fruition in the game, so if we can keep doing that, I think we are going to have more success than not.
"We're really positive moving forward and just looking forward to the next game."
