On-loan forward looking to get off the mark for U's

17 August 2021

Colchester United's on-loan forward Sylvester Jasper started his first League game since joining the U's on Saturday afternoon, in the 0-1 defeat to Northampton Town.

It was a tale of two halves for the U's on Saturday afternoon, with Hayden Mullins' side unable to make their better chances and perforamance count in the second period against the Cobblers.

But despite the loss, it was encouraging according to the U's on-loan forward Sylvester Jasper, who said that a win is just around the corner.

"Second half we were a completely different team, we played much better and we were much more attacking. It's a big shame that we couldn't put those to bed but it will give us confidence now going into Tuesday and I'm so sure that we will put Saturday's performance right.

"As soon as we got back in the changing room the manager told us how impressed he was with the second half performance and it's just the finishing touch, but things like that will come.

"There's no time to dwell on Saturday's game, it's already behind us. We are now looking at the next challenge, the next goal and that's Tuesday's game.

"We need to start being ruthless now. We've had two games where we've not quite got it right, but now it's time for us to knuckle down and start putting points on the board, scoring goals and climbing up that table."
