U's boss excited to get back underway

30 December 2021

Colchester United boss Hayden Mullins is looking forward to getting the season back underway against Crawley Town on Saturday afternoon.

It has been a period of uncertainty for the U's, with the last four matches postponed due to COVID, but Hayden Mullins' side should return to action on New Year's Day on the road at Crawley Town.

The Red Devils are in a similar position to the U's, having not played since the 11th December, so will be looking to dust off a few cobwebs in the opening minutes of the game.

But it is a game that Mullins is looking forward to as his side kick off in 2022.

"With the four fixtures being postponed, it's been a long time since out last game, and our last game was a defeat, which could linger on, but we are chomping at the bit to get back.

"We've had some really good training sessions, some stop-start ones with different numbers, with some dropping out with COVID, but we are really looking forward to the game this weekend.

"We have a really good group at the minute, but you're planning in terms of the actual eleven can change, but how we want to set up as a team is pretty much the same.

"It could be a bit cagey, a bit of a slow start but you never know how it's going to pan out. We are as ready as we can be, and train towards it, but you can never replicate games."

Tickets will be on sale on the day from the hosts. Click HERE for prices and more information for the U's first game of 2022.
