Premier League Primary Stars scheme gets started

27 January 2021

The Football in the Community Education team has started its support of children's learning from home, as well as those still in schools.

As children, parents and teachers adapt to teaching and learning from home, The FITC Education Team have begun to support children through the Premier League Primary Stars Home Learning Support Programme.

Programmes that begun last week and have already engaged over 30+ targeted individual children and classes of Key Worker/Vulnerable children still in school within Literacy, Numeracy and PSHE.

Louie, who is a pupil at Holland Haven Primary School in Tendring, is currently learning from home with both his parents also working from home, balancing home teaching and their daily workload.

Louie has been taking part in a PSHE programme to help develop him as a person and how he adapts to learning at home, supporting his parents and getting on with siblings.

The programme talks about Resilience, Teamwork, Kindness, and Managing Emotions, Confidence and Self-Esteem with sessions designed for each topic.

Louie’s Father Max shared: “Louie is loving taking part in the sessions so far and it is a great for us as parents to have a supporting voice from the club’s Education Team to support Louie around some of the things that become evident when you have children in the hours all day – aspects like doing things you don’t want to do, dealing with conflict and being kind to siblings, it really is a big help.”

Louie added “Learning how footballers and other people become better is a great way to practice and learn myself.”

The FITC Education Team is available to support KS1 and KS2 children in Primary School through the Premier League Primary Stars Home Learning Support Programme.

2. Maths Stars – VIEW SCHEME OF WORK

Rick Goldsbrough, who heads the Education Team, said: “You can see the value in supporting children during this challenging time, providing them with a different voice and interaction to support their learning using the Premier League Primary Stars resources.

It is also a big help to parents and teachers in this very difficult time, with the balancing they have to do working remotely and in many different ways.”

All lesson feedback is shared with parents and class teachers so all parties can stay on track with the progress of individuals over the delivery of the programme.

All sessions are delivered on the Zoom Meeting Platform with adult supervision required, (Online Safeguarding details will be shared during the registration process).
