FITC Update

Latest FITC news following new Lockdown announcement

5 January 2021

Following the new Lockdown announcement made on Monday night by Boris Johnson, we have some important information concerning Football in the Community activities.

In line withthe new Government restrictions, Colchester United Football in the Community, (CUFITC), will cease all face to face delivery from Tuesday 5th January with the exception of disability programmes and supporting our partner schools with key worker and vulnerable children.

We will, together with all our partner schools, ensure we meet their needs and provide enrichment to their pupils through a varied approach.

Programme face to face delivery that is suspended until further notice include:
Boys Development Centre Programme
Girls Development Centre Programme
Premier League Kicks Programme
Skills Centre Programme
Grassroots Team coaching
1-2-1 Coaching sessions
Walking Football
All hirers of the Shrub End Community and Sports Centre

We will contact all of the above programme participants in due course to try and continue their development whilst face to face delivery is once again paused.

When we have a confirmed date for the recommencement of these programmes, we will provide information on any monies paid for cancelled sessions or pitch bookings.

Head of Community Corin Haines said: "Once again, our team is planning support during this period for our most vulnerable participants and their families, as well as providing ways to maintain the physical and mental wellbeing of all those that benefit from our usual services.”

“In the weeks ahead, our team will provide members of the community with various tasks online to keep them engaged and stimulated.

“Our message to all is to take care of yourselves and those around you, as well as any vulnerable members of our community that you are able to support during this period.

“We again aim to be part of the solution and provide support to those that may need it.

“Stay well, and we will see you soon either virtually or back at our sessions when the time comes.”

If you or someone you know may need support through the days and weeks ahead, please contact FITC direct at fitc@colchesterunited.net or our referral phone line on 01206 755160.
