27 January 2021

Colchester United left it late to grab a point against the league leaders, Ipswich Town, with Tom Stagg scoring in second half stoppage time to avoid defeat.

Dave Huzzey and Richard Hall's side took the lead in the game, with Donnell Thomas finding the net twenty minutes into the game at Playford Road. Thomas struck beyond White in the home goal to give his side the lead, only for the hosts to equalise with half an hour played.

Armando Dobra got his first of the game, equalising for the Tractor Boys with fifteen minutes to go to half time with an effort that beat Collins in the U's goal, with the scores remaining level until the break.

In the second half, the hosts took the lead for the first time in the game, when Dobra netted for the second time. Fifteen minutes into the second half he struck beyond Collins to put his side ahead, but the U's rallied late on to snatch an equaliser.

Next up for the young U's is a home tie against Swansea City, when the Swans come to north Essex on Monday 1st February for a 1pm kick-off.

U's: Collins, Akolbire, Clampin, Cornish, Cracknell, Tricker, Bohui, Lowe, Hutchinson, Thomas, Stagg.
