Football in the Community continue good work

16 July 2021

Colchester United Football in the Community's Sport & Education Team is proud to continue supporting Primary and Secondary schools throughout north Essex.

St Thomas More’s Catholic Primary School is one of a number of local schools to renew their partnership with Colchester United Football in the Community for the 2021/22 academic year.

In a challenging period where school’s budgets are tight, our Sport & Education Team continue to support schools with cost effective, high quality and value support to assist schools in teaching and enriching the curriculum and offering extracurricular activities to young people.

Dave Peck, Sports Co-ordinator at St Thomas More’s said: "STM love working with Colchester United, they are flexible, adaptable and put an emphasis on building relationships which is something we value."

"They very much feel part of our school team which is a benefit to both our staff team and pupils."

The Sport & Education Team offer support programmes within the following subject areas -  Physical Education, Literacy, Numeracy, PSHE and Sport which schools like St Thomas More’s have benefited from in supporting and enriching the national curriculum and school specific outcomes.

Rick Goldsbrough who leads the Sport & Education Team added: "Our Sport & Education Team strives to enhance and enrich the opportunities available to schools and the young people in the communities we serve."

"The support from our partners, The Premier League Charitable Foundation and EFL Trust among others, allows us to provide high quality cost effective educational programmes to provide schools, their pupils and their staff with a partner to assist in meeting the educational and individual needs of those in their care.

"Our Partnership with St Thomas More’s is a prime example of the level of Partnership we are looking to form with schools within our local area."

Colchester United Football in the Community Sport & Education programmes are available to all schools within North Essex.
