Clampin Extends U's Stint

Ryan signs new deal

11 June 2021

Ryan Clampin has signed a new contract to stay at Colchester United.

The young left back has secured a two year deal until the summer of 2023, following in the footsteps of fellow defender Tom Eastman, who signed at the end of last month.

Ryan came to the club as an U9s player, and signed his first pro contract in 2017 after progresssing through the Academy.

After making his full league debut at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, he had to be patient in his quest for regular first team football until halfway through last season.

He made the left back position his own in the second half of the campaign though, and scored in the vital win against Walsall in April that helped the U's secure their league status.

The twenty two year old was pleased to get the deal done, and is looking forward to the seasons ahead.

He told Col U TV: "We've been speaking over the summer months and have now finally got it sorted."

"It's always nice to play for your club and I've been here so long as well. I know all the staff and get on with all the boys so it was nice to get it over the line.

"I'm looking forward to the next couple of years, especially knowing now that I have solidified that spot a bit more. I'm excited."
