Nineteen-year-old midfielder Sam Cornish has put pen to paper on his first professional deal, signing with Colchester United ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
Putting pen to paper on a one-year deal, Cornish follows his U23s teammate Billy Cracknell in signing his first professional deal with the club.
The combative midfielder had impressed in his performances for the U23s throughout the 2020/21 Professional Development League season, and was rewarded by being named in the final matchday squad of the season.
After spending ten years with the club, joining Colchester United at U9 level, Cornish was delighted to have signed his first pro deal with the U's, and is looking forward to what next season brings.
"It's unreal, I was buzzing when I got the news. It's a dream come true, I've been working so hard for it and I'm really pleased.
"Hopefully I can make my debut and be in and around the first team a bit more like last year.
"I just want to be in and around the first team as much as possible, training wise, but hopefully I'd like to make my debut and play some more games for the club."
