Limited Spaces On Thurstable College Programme

Handful of spaces available for the CUFITC 2021/22 season

16 June 2021

Colchester United Football in the Community Thurstable College Programme has limited squad places remaining for the 2021/22 season.

The programme offers students aged 16-19 years the opportunity to train full time, represent Colchester United in the EFL Community & Education Football Alliance against other professional club affiliated colleges and study A Level and BTEC further education courses to support their future pathways.

The current cohort of students are in the final straight of the prolonged 2020/21 season with three games remaining, however plans are in place for the new season!

The current squad recently took on Southend United at the JobServe Community Stadium, which is an additional bonus we strive to provide for the students each season alongside maximising the resources available throughout the club!

We have limited spaces remaining in the squad and are continuing to take applications for new students.

Ben Nixon, the current Squad Captain, who is departing in the summer to go to University, relayed “I think I can speak on behalf of the squad here at Thurstable that the programme that we are part of is one of the best footballing experiences that we will get in our careers as footballers, alongside studying at a very good Sixth Form College.”

“The amount of time and effort that goes into our training sessions and match days is impeccable, which is a testament to the coaching staff.”

“Personally going through the process of looking at all the football programmes in the area this one stood out as a fantastic opportunity. The additional benefits it offers all its students includes professional nutrition and gym programmes, facilities including a new gym, 4G astro to play and train in each day, alongside opportunities to access a pathway to the clubs U18’s if you’re good enough just enhances the a professional environment which is available to us.”

“Many of our squad have volunteer and part time jobs at the club which only adds to the value and opportunity the programme has offered us.”

Former Colchester United First team player Louis Dunne, who has recently joined the coaching staff at Thurstable shared “Students who attend our programme have a fantastic opportunity to work and develop day in day out within a professionally structured environment on the pitch and within a high quality educational setting off it. We strive to build people not just players and provide plenty of opportunity for students to improve within football, education, qualifications and employment.
