Colchester United can confirm another pre-season fixture ahead of the 21/22 season.
Head Coach Hayden Mullins will be returning to his old stomping ground, as Watford host the U's on July 17th in a behind closed doors friendly.
This match takes place seven days before the U's host League One side Gillingham here at the JobServe Community Stadium, and three weeks before the league campaign kicks-off on August 7th.
Jon De Souza said of the fixture: "Across the pre-season fixtures, we want a decent blend of opposition and playing a side of Watford’s calibre will give us something different to other matches in our build-up.
"They’ve had a fantastic season in the Championship, and will be gearing up for the Premier League so will provide a really tough test for the lads.
"It’ll be a great experience for us, and I’m sure that Hayden will be catching up with a few familiar old faces as he returns to the club he spent time with as a young coach and manager."
