Colchester United are backing a local fundraising effort, for Young Minds UK.
Morant Maestros, a group of six Colchester youngsters, are running 1000k this month to raise money for, and raise awareness of, Young Minds UK.
Young Minds is a Mental Health charity, who want to make sure all young people can get the mental health support they need, when they need it, no matter what.
Nathan Sandberg is one of the Morant Maestros and he has told the club's official website that the group wanted to use their passion for good.
He said: "All six of us have a big passion for keeping fit and we thought we’d like to use that passion to help people our age or a bit older that have struggled with, or are struggling with, mental health problems."
"We’ve decided to set a target of raising £1000 over the course of 1000km between all six of us through March, which is roughly 5.4K per day each.
"We decided to choose a charity with a relatively large reputation as we felt as though they had a larger reach to help people, which is why we’ve chosen to represent Young Minds UK.
"This is particularly important to us as we’ve been in and around friends who’ve struggled with managing their mental health over the last few years."
