CUFITC Continue To Deliver Premier League Kicks Programme

Community awarded further funding for 2021/22 academic year

25 November 2021

Colchester United Football in the Community are delighted to have been awarded £40,000 worth of funding to deliver Premier League Kicks for The 2021/2022 academic year.

Funding has been awarded for the 6th year to support the delivery of Premier League Kicks, which uses the power of football to connect with young people in some of the most high-need areas of support for young people across North Essex.

Funding for this  youth outreach programme aims to create safer, stronger and more respectful communities through the development of young people’s potential, whilst providing access to facilities, coaching and mentoring.  During a difficult last year Colchester United Football in the Community has  engaged with 450+ young people across our community! It’s been so pleasing to see our participants flooding back to sessions and we can’t wait to welcome even more young people during this academic year.

One of our long time participants recently spoke about the impact Premier league Kicks has had on him:

“I meet new people and I get to play football, the lockdown was hard because I couldn’t get out and do it, I missed it, I find it hard to socialize but the coaches are good. I have been given the opportunity to volunteer as a coach with kicks to help the younger children, I’m looking forward to it because I like teaching my younger brother and sister play, I am hoping the coaches will help me be the best I can.”

Henry Singleton, Colchester United Football in the Community, Health & Inclusion Development Officer shared:

“To see the opportunities and impact the Premier League Kicks Programme provides young people is greatly valued within our community by participants, their families and local authorities. We’re proud to offer this programme to our community and work alongside the Premier League Charitable Foundation to provide a safe space for young people to come and enjoy themselves, whilst providing the support they need to support their futures.”

The Premier League Kicks Programme provides football and sports sessions, workshops, tournaments to its participants at no cost, while supporting young people with volunteering opportunities, further education and employment.
