U's Boss wants reaction at home to Exeter City

23 November 2021

Colchester United boss Hayden Mullins wants his side to take their chances when they come, when Exeter City visit the JobServe Community Stadium on Tuesday.

After suffering a difficult defeat against Stevenage on Saturday afternoon, the U's host second-place Exeter City at the JobServe Community Stadium on Tuesday night in the next Sky Bet League Two action.

A first half penalty condemned the U's to a loss at the Lamex, but U's boss Hayden Mullins is wanting a reaction from his side against the Grecians in the next game.

"We gave Stevenage the goal, and it was something for them to hold on to. They had that little bit of confidence from then, and they didn't really have to come out, even though they were the home team. They sat in their half for a large majority of the game, we were so dominant but we need to be switched on the whole time.

"The boys gave us everything on Saturday, but you get nothing for possession and territory game. But we went there to put them on the back foot. We thought they might get the crowd going, but I think we kept them quiet, really had them pinned back for large periods at a time, but it was a tough one to take.

"We've really got to get at Exeter, try and score when we are on top and stamp our authority on the game, and really make those chances count."
