Colchester United Football in the Community continue to work with Active Essex to deliver half term Activate programmes.
Colchester United Football in the Community are working in partnership with Active Essex Foundation and are delighted to be offering free holiday sessions and food provision across Colchester and Harwich for children in receipt of free school meals this Christmas Holidays. The funding for this programme is specifically for children, young people and their families who are eligible for free school meals. There are also places for working families who require additional support during school holidays.
The Xmas holiday Essex Activate programme will be delivered at three local Community Hubs; Shrub End Community & Sports Centre and Colchester Academy, Greenstead in Colchester and the Harwich & Dovercourt Rugby Club in Tendring to children aged 6 – 16 years.
This continues on following a pilot After School Club project, currently being delivered at the Shrub End Community & Sports Centre in Colchester each week where families can attend for sporting and enrichment activities and an hot evening meal each Wednesday. This programme was launched off the success of Easter, Summer and October half term programme and we’re are very pleased to confirm our partnership with Active Essex for the Christmas Holiday.
The Activate programme will again be providing children and young people with over 50 hours of fun sporting and enrichment activities, along with providing 792 free hot meals across our two Colchester and one Harwich venues, along with plenty of Xmas fun and goodies.
Community Performance Manager Rick Goldsbrough added “It’s a fantastic opportunity to support families and young people again in our communities during the Xmas Holiday, through the Essex Activate programme. This programme has already made a big impact to those who it supports and we’re very proud to work alongside Active Essex in providing this opportunity to the people in the communities we serve.”
