First half goals from Matt Ward and Tete Yengi secured three points for Ipswich Town as the U's lost their Professional Development League match at Portman Road.
The hosts made a fast start in the game, taking the lead within three minutes at Portman Road. Matt Ward was the man on target for Ipswich Town, prodding home from a far-side corner to make it 1-0.
And the hosts kept coming forward throughout the first thirty minutes of the game, with Chirewa and Siziba going close to Gerken's goal, before the lead was doubled by Tete Yengi just after the half hour mark.
The forward curled the ball into the far corner of the net, giving Gerken no chance and making it 2-0 before the break.
Marley Miranda went close to halving the deficit for the U's before half time when he burst towards Bort's goal, but the midfielder could only blaze over the bar from just outside the area as the referee blew for half time under the lights in Ipswich.
After the break, the U's had chances to get back in the game, with a number of corners having to be defended well from the home side. But when the defence was beaten, the U's couldn't find a route to goal, with Chay Cooper's free kick striking the woodwork from a tight angle.
Donell Thomas' struck over with twenty minutes of the game remaining after a good move from the U's, culminating with a cross from Clampin.
The game had a nervy finish for the hosts, when they were reduced to ten men after Kenlock had been sent off for an altercation with Samson Tovide, but late pressure from the U's wouldn't break the Portman Road defence as Ipswich Town ran out 2-0 winners.
