Match Preview | Freddie Sears

Forward full of confidence ahead of Friday night game

26 November 2021

Freddie Sears was the man to put the game beyond doubt on Tuesday night against Exeter City, adding the third and final goal in the 3-1 victory over the Grecians.

Sears added to the U's tally started by Syl Jasper and Noah Chilvers in the first half to earn the U's three points against second-placce Exeter City.

It was the U's forward's seventh goal of the season, after returning to North Essex from Ipswich Town in the summer, but Freddie admits he should already be in double figures this season.

But Freddie is still full of confidence going into the game against Newport County on Friday night, as the U's look to make it three home league wins in a row.

"It's another tough game coming up, but one we are definitely looking forward to, especially after the other night with that great performance and win. It goes to show that we can beat the teams at the top of the league.

"It's one where we are full of confidence, and looking to go and build on what we started on Tuesday. We knew they'd be coming back at us in the second half after not really performing in the first, but it was massive relief to get that third goal and extra cushion.

"I was delighted to chip in and get the goal and help the lads to three points. But I should on at least ten this season, but I'm really enjoying playing as a striker, which is where I want to play. I'm loving every minute."
