International U's Jet Off

Three Colchester United players in international action over next few days

10 November 2021

Colchester United will be without a game this weekend after three first team players were called up to national sides for the upcoming international games.

U's captain, Tommy Smith received a call up to the New Zealand national squad for their two upcoming international fixtures, both of which are due to be played in Abu Dhabi.

The first game for the All Whites is against an Algeria side that has been assembled for the FIFA Arab Cup at the end of November, with the game due to be played on Friday 12th.

The second game for New Zealand sees them take on Gambia on Tuesday 16th, at the Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai, before the U's man will head back to England to rejoin with Colchester United.

Sylvester Jasper was called up to the Bulgaria U21 side for the first time last week, with his national side having two games coming up for qualification in the Euro U21 Championships.

Jasper's Bulgaria U21 debut could come on Friday, when they travel to the Netherlands and the Yanmar Stadium for a 5:45pm KO. The second game of the international break for Bulgaria's U21s is at home to Moldova on the 16th November.

Armando Dobra netted in his last game for the Albania U21 side, in a 2-0 win against Slovenia in the last international break.

And the U's loanee will be hoping to add to his tally in the qualification for the Euro U21 Championships when Albania travel to Slovenia for the reverse fixture. They also have a game against Kosovo on the 16th of November, before Armando will head back to the U's.
