Colchester United stalwart Tom Eastman moved above Percy Ames on the all time appearance list with his start against Bristol Rovers to go ninth for the U's.
With 423 appearances to his name, Eastman is closing in on the top five places at Colchester United having returned to a starting berth with the U's in the last couple of games.
And ahead of the game at Port Vale, the centre back spoke of his affection for the club after celebrating his 30th birthday on Thursday.
"It's nice to get to ninth, it's a really good achievement for myself, and I'd like to climb that list even higher. It's my local team, my local club, really enjoy playing here throughout the years, and I've been lucky to play the games I have.
"Last year was a tough year, and we've tried to rebuild from that. The lads we have in the squad now have been really good. It wasn't the best start, but I think we are building, the last couple of performances have been better and hopefully we can push on further up the league.
"Over the years, we have been really strong at home, it wasn't quite the same at the start of this season. Hopefully we can turn that around and get back to winning ways at home, and this weekend away will be tough.
"Everytime I play there, I can never quite believe how big the pitch is, but it will be a tough game. The boys are all ready and all fresh, and we know what to expect so hopefully we can bring home a few points."
