Message from owner and Chairman Robbie Cowling

28 October 2021

Colchester United owner and Chairman Robbie Cowling has issued the following message:

Following Tuesday’s game, I wanted to remind everyone of the club’s sanctions policy.

I fully understand that supporters of Colchester United feel the club should be doing better on the pitch and in particular when we play at home.

I take full responsibility for what goes on at Colchester United and I accept that I am likely to be criticised very vocally and very publicly when things are not going well.

I know things need to improve and I am working on it.

The ability for football fans to make themselves heard through their songs is outstanding and I never would have thought my name could be fitted into as many different songs as it was on Tuesday night.

I have no desire to stop opinions being expressed in this or any other manner and to make things worse, I have found myself humming along to some of those tunes ever since.

However, I will not tolerate the levels of abusive language that were used as it is not acceptable to large parts of our fan base.

Those who choose to continue to use such abusive language will become subject to our sanctions policy, which can be read by clicking HERE.

Up The U’s

Robbie
