U's boss' thoughts on the home game to Sutton United

3 September 2021

Colchester United host Sutton United for the first time in almost thirty years on Saturday afternoon, and Hayden Mullins is looking forward to getting back in front of a home crowd.

The U's picked up a point on the road at Rochdale in their last game, but the players left disappointed that they hadn't taken all three points from the game after letting their first half lead slip.

But Mullins says the U's will have to put that behind them as they focus on Saturday afternoon's fixture against Sutton United.

"Sutton are a good side. I've said to the boys they will have a number of attacking options. Having come up from the National League we need to respect them, and respect their attacking options as well while trying to impose ourselves on the game.

"We've proved that we are a good side away from home this season already in the short period that we've had. It's a long season and we know that but we have started our away form really well and now we are trying to look at our home form.

"Home and away is a different game. We need to raise the tempo and quicken what we are doing in terms of play and attacking threat."

Speaking on the newest signing, Armando Dobra, and adding to his forward options, Hayden was excited for the Ipswich Town loanee to get going.

"Armando is going to bring energy, flair, and creativity. When we played Ipswich in pre-season, I thought he was one that looked like a real bright talent on the night. He looked to attack most times when he got it, he was direct and he was quick.

"His name came up and it was definitely one we wanted to pursue, he's a real good, young talent with loads of energy. I feel we are getting a good player."
