Captain looking for good performance on the road

24 September 2021

The U's will play their fifth away league game of the season on Saturday with the trip to Swindon Town.

Colchester United Captain Tommy Smith is hoping that his side can continue their good away form with the trip to Swindon.

He knows it will be a tough game with Swindon getting a good start in the league, but the U's have shown they are more than capable this season.

"We've taken our chances more frequently on the road than we have done at home. It's no slight on the strikers, it's the whole team. We've had chances from set pieces that we should have done better with, we just need to better across the whole area.

"We need to stop going behind in games, and we need to make sure we capitalise when we are on top so that we get in front.

"All credit to the group because we have had some long away trips this season. I need to give a shout out to the fans for making some really long journeys at some awkward times. They have helped us. The more fans we can take to away games, the better it will be to galvanise us on the pitch.

"We have addressed the game from last weekend, but we know we have another tough one to come and we are looking to take all three points."
