Boss aiming for cup upset against Premier League side

22 August 2022

Wayne Brown has asked his squad to go and right the wrongs of Saturday afternoon's performance when they play Brentford in the Carabao Cup.

The U's boss said he was disappointed with the performance of his team on Saturday afternoon as they fell to a 3-1 home defeat to Leyton Orient.

But Brown has challenged his players to put that right on Tuesday evening in the Carabao Cup as they take on Premier League side, Brentford, in the Second Round of the competition.

"There's always another game that comes along, and what better game than to put Saturday to bed than a Premier League team on your home patch.

"As a player, you would want to thrive in those occasions. You do want to pit your wits against the best players, the Premier League players. The lads have got an opportunity to do that, and we need to pick a team that we feel is going to go out there and give ourselves the best chance of getting a result.

"We've had set-backs this season already. But we've come strong again the next game. And it's important we do that - we had a bit of a set-back on Saturday, a disappointment and a frustrating afternoon, but we need to move on and we need to move on quickly. There's always another where you can put the wrongs right, and we'll be looking to do that on Tuesday."
