Wayne Brown's side will be on the hunt for their first three points of the season on Saturday, with a trip to Stockport County's Edgeley Park.
The U's will be heading up north full of confidence after their cup win against Ipswich Town on Tuesday evening, with Luke Hannant on target for the first time in a U's shirt.
Setting up an exciting tie against Premier League Brentford, U's players and staff will have to re-focus on the league action for the time being, starting with the trip to Stockport County this weekend.
Wayne Brown was without Freddie Sears and Alan Judge for Tuesday's game, as both picked up knocks in the 1-1 draw at home to Carlisle on Saturday, but the Head Coach says they will be assessed before heading north.
Stockport County headed in to their first season back in the Football League as one of the favourites to gain promotion. Storming to the National League title last season, Dave Challinor had a squad worthy of the EFL already, with the likes Paddy Madden, Antoni Sarcevic and Scott Quigley within their ranks.
And County have struggled in their opening two league games, yet to register a point after narrow defeats to both Barrow and Stevenage.
An opening day defeat came at Edgeley Park when Barrow raced into a three-goal lead before half time, holding on to win 3-2 at the full-time whistle. And last weekend's result would have been a tough one to take, leading until the eighty-eighth minute when two goals in the last minutes of the game handed Stevenage three points.
But securing their first win of the season on Tuesday evening, a 1-0 win at Harrogate Town in the Carabao Cup, was encouraging for Challinor who said his team showed the standards he was expecting.
"It was important to get that monkey off our back in terms of that first win, getting competition prize money and potential of a draw that could be profitable for the club.
"To win and to be back, or more similar to what I see us as, in terms of the team was massively pleasing."
With an established squad already, Challinor hasn't made many signings this summer. But the recruits he has brought in have all been of a good standard, with Fraser Horsfall joining from Northampton Town after being included in the PFA League Two Team of the Season.
Also through the door at Edgeley Park, Joe Lewis (Torquay United), Connor Lemonheigh-Evans (Torquay United), Akil Wright (York City), Kyle Wooton (Notts County), Callum Camps (Fleetwood Town), Vitezslav Jaros (Liverpool - loan) and James Brown (Blackburn Rovers - loan).
The first two league games have seen Challinor's side line up with a 3-5-2 formation, although that was changed for the Carabao Cup game against Harrogate Town in the week.
They have scored four goals so far in the campaign, one apiece for Paddy Madden, Connor Jennings, Antoni Sarcevic and Callum Camps.
Last Time We Met
It's been twelve years since the U's last met Stockport, with the last game coming in League One. The U's side including Kayode Odajeyi, Anthony Wordsworth and Kem Izzett took an early two-goal lead - with Prutton and Wordsworth on target.
But the hosts hit back shortly after with Jabo Ibehre bagging the first of two, with the second coming thirteen minutes from time to share the points.
