Sam Hornby was one of three Deadline Day signings for the U's, joining on loan from Bradford City until the end of the season.
Hornby went straight into the starting eleven for Tuesday's game, just a day after completing his move, and put in a solid performance as the U's drew 1-1 against Rochdale.
And speaking ahead of Saturday's game against Leyton Orient, the 'keeper said he was glad to spend some more time with his new teammates throughout the last few days.
"It was nice to get selected on Tuesday. Monday was a light training day so I was still getting used to names on Tuesday, but we've had a good session and I'm looking forward to Saturday.
"It's a case of settling in, getting to know everyone, and you can only do that on the training pitch. It was good to be out there training with the lads and we got a good session under our belts.
"Saturday is one to really look forward to. We have to take it game by game, there's a load of fixtures. Good performances will hopefully mean good results and that will look after itself."
