One of the U's January signings, John Akinde was back in action on Tuesday evening against Hartlepool United.
The striker was involved for the first hour of the contest between the U's and Hartlepool on Tuesday evening, making his comback in the side after contracting COVID a couple of weeks ago.
And John's impact was noted by his manager, with the striker hopeful he can make a further impact during Saturday's game against Oldham Athletic.
"It was good after getting COVID, struggling a little bit, it was good to get some minutes in the legs.
"We were disappointed to have lost the game, and concede the goals that we did. But there were positives in the chances that we created and we need to take that into the next game.
"We're all aware of the situation and the size of the game on Saturday, but it's another game we need to win. We want to win every game that we play, but we know exactly where we are, and we will do our best to get out of it.
"With the home games coming up, we need the fans behind us, and being that extra man, we will, as players, be doing our best for them."
