U's boss wants more after lacklustre performance

4 January 2022

Colchester United boss, Hayden Mullins, has said he wants to see much more from his players heading into the game against Sutton United this evening.

The U's were left disappointed and defeated on New Year's Day with a 3-1 loss at Crawley Town after a three-week break from playing due to COVID.

The home side got the better of the U's with three goals before Freddie Sears' eightieth-minute consolation, and Hayden Mullins wants his side to turn things around after an honest assessment of Saturday's performance.

"It was a bad day on Saturday. I've said that to the lads in the changing room after the game. We were knowhere near it defensivley, and they were better than us doing the nitty-gritty throughout.

"The main thing I was annoyed about was the way in which we conceded the goals. The chances we had and missed, we need to start putting them away.

"We need to make sure we give ourselves the chances to win the game, not conceding silly goals and putting away the chances we have."
