Dallison Back For Felixstowe Friendly

Defender involved in first pre-season action

26 July 2022

Colchester United's U23s suffered a narrow 3-2 loss in their latest friendly at Felixstowe & Walton United.

The U23s travelled over the border at the weekend, to take on Felixstowe & Walton United.

With the U’s first team also having a game, it was a mixture of young players and triallists making the trip to the Isthmian North side.

There was a welcome addition to the squad though, with Tom Dallison making his first appearance in pre-season following injury. The defender got thirty minutes under his belt and suffered no initial reactions to the workout on the Suffolk coast.

In the hot conditions, the U’s took a while to get going but recovered from going 2-0 behind to get back on level terms thanks to goals from Taizo Marcel Dilaver and Jake Hutchinson. Unfortunately, a winner from the hosts meant defeat for Richard Hall’s youngsters.

Hall said after the encounter: “First things first, it was great to see Tom Dallison out on a pitch in competitive action again after a frustrating pre-season injury has kept him side-lined.”

“As expected, he was the model professional amongst the young lads and they should all have benefitted from having him talking to them before the game and throughout his thirty minutes of action.

“After our slow start, we had a decent spell in the game, and there were plenty of players getting good minutes under their belts – that’s a massive plus in pre-season and we also put into practice a lot of what we have worked hard on during training.

“Overall, it was a great workout for us, and we thank Felixstowe for their hospitality and wish them luck for the upcoming season.”
