Head Coach excited for upcoming season

29 July 2022

Colchester United Head Coach, Wayne Brown, has said he’s excited for the season to get underway with a trip to Northampton on the horizon.

Wayne Brown is encouraged by the work Colchester have put in in the six weeks of pre-season, preparing for the season opener, and has said it’s an exciting time for the supporters, players and staff.

Brown will lead his side to Sixfields on Saturday as he hopes to hit the ground running in the opening game against Northampton.

“I’m excited, it’s an exciting time for the supporters and it’s no different for players and staff, we’ve put a lot of work in over the last six weeks for this game, and that’s what we’ve been prepping for, so as I say the staff and the players are no different to the supporters in that aspect.

“The lads have been spot on, they’ve come back [from the summer break] in really good shape and as I said they’re excited for Saturday to come round.

“As I say they’re all looking good and ultimately as we said before, the past six weeks is about an individual player doing everything that you can to make my job as hard as it can possibly be, to leave them out, so that’s got to be their mentality.

“Ultimately we’ve got to be worried about what we’re going to do to teams. We want to go and win the game of football so we have to prepare and prep the lads to do that to the best of their ability.”
