Wayne Brown's Colchester United will head to Reading for the first pre-season of the summer on Saturday 2nd July.
The U's pre-season fixtures will begin in just over a couple of weeks at Reading's Training Ground, with a behind-closed-doors friendly against the Royals.
With the players due back in for training next week, it will give the new management team a couple of weeks to prepare the squad for the first match of the summer against the Championship side.
And it will provide a good first test for the returning U's, taking on a side that finished twenty-first in the second tier of English football.
