Hartlepool Preview | Wayne Brown

Win wanted in season finale

6 May 2022

Wayne Brown wants Colchester United to finish the 2021/22 season with a win.

Wayne Brown and the U's face a long trip up to the North East for the final game, with Hartlepool United providing the opposition.

The U's secured their League Two status a few games ago, but Brown will be pushing his side to finish strongly and continue what has been a decent run of fixtures during the past few weeeks.

Thirteen points have been gained in the past seven fixtures, including wins against Tranmere Rovers and Newport County.

Ahead of the trip North, Brown told the local media on Thursday afternoon: "We've done a lot of prep today, getting information into the lads ahead of the game, and we'll do the same tomorrow."

"I thought that we were unlucky last weekend, especially in the second half, not to get all three points, but we got another one on the board and there were plenty of positives to take into this Hartlepool game.

"It's not a dead rubber, there is always motivation. Players should always go out wanting to be the best player on the pitch and to do all they can individually to help the collective group get the win.

"We want to finish as high up the league as we can, that has been the aim all along. There's one more game and  three more points - that's the aim right now.
