Following the announcement of the U's new Management Team, Joe Dunne is keen to continue the good work.
Dunne will extend his time here in north Essex, after answering the call to assist Wayne Brown during his interim period in charge in January.
A successful second half of the season saw the U's moved well away from the two relegation places, and Wayne, Joe and Dave Huzzey have now been put in charge of the U's on a permanent basis.
Joe admits that he was pleased to get the call, and to come back into the club that he knows very well.
He first joined the U's as a player in 1996, making almost 200 appearances across two spells.
Injury saw him go into coaching early, and he made his way up through the U's Academy, before taking over the first team reins in 2012.
Jobs at Cambridge, Bristol Rovers and Mansfield followed, before a short return to the U's in the 2020/21 season during Wayne Brown's first interim appointment.
He returned this January, with Brown again in temporary charge, and explained on Col U TV earlier this week how this second stint came around.
"When Wayne took over again, he gave me a call and asked me to give him a hand, which I was delighted to do."
"Since then, things have worked out pretty well in terms of how well the team have done for us, and it's great that we'll be back to give it a real go this coming season."
After the summer break, the season starts a week earlier than usual this time round, and the new trio will be working hard to have the squad ready for the opener on the last weekend in July.
Dunne actually thinks that nothing has really stopped since the end of the season for the staff at the U's.
He said: "We're still in work mode really, there's a lot to be done and this is just the beginning of things again."
"We're looking at where we need to recruit, how we need to recruit and what sort of players we need to recruit.
"Organisation is key in getting structures in place and the Gaffer has been talking to us and all the members of staff about organisational structures within their departments.
"We're trying to build a key structure to give us teh best platform to build on, and even if you get a fews odd days to relax a bit, the phone will always be on."
