All the info for Sunday's Rivals Unite Day

20 May 2022

A number of former U's teammates of John White will be taking to the field for the popular defender's Southend United testimonial this summer.

Colchester United are proud to support the Essex Charity Cup’s Rivals Unite day at Roots Hall Stadium on Sunday 22nd May 2022, which will include a testimonial for former player John White.

The event, which is raising funds for Justin Edinburgh 3 Foundation as well as supporting John’s testimonial, will include all three professional sides from the South East.

The day will start at 11.30am with a match between a Southend XI vs Leyton Orient XI before a Colchester legends side will take to the pitch in the 2pm kick-off against their Southend counterparts.

A number of current and former U’s are signed up for the event including Tom Eastman, Freddie Sears, Matt Heath, George Elokobi, Anthony Wordsworth and Wayne Andrews.

Gates will open at 10am, when fans who have already purchased tickets will be able to exchange them for a wristband which will enable them to leave and re-enter the Stadium at their choosing. The same will apply for those buying on the day. Tickets will be priced at £15 adults and £5 U18s, cash only.

U’s supporters will be situated in Blocks A and B of Roots Hall, and access will be from the Legends Entrance which is in the North East corner of the stand. There will also be access to the Groundsman’s bar.

A Leyton Orient XI, which includes legends and fans, will take on a Southend XI at 11.30am before John White’s testimonial kicks off between Southend United and Colchester United at 2.00pm.

Inbetween the two matches, there will be live music pitchside, as well as a MIDEXPRO challenge in which young U’s fans can win some cool prizes.

Local company Kickabull will be in attendance in the Car Park throughout the day, where fans can try to set a high score and climb the leaderboard against some of the footballers who will also be taking part. There’ll also be an ice cream van and food and drink available.

The official Matchday Programme will be available from the programme hut which is also in the North East corner of the main stand, available for £3.

There will be a raffle on the day, which will be drawn pitch side on the conclusion of John White’s testimonial. Prizes include family days out at theme parks, four hours free tattooing, and many more cool prizes.

After the raffle, fans will also have the chance to place their bids on a number of items including a worn Harry Kane England shirt, as well as the match worn shirts from the legends on the day.

Please note that tickets, raffles, programmes sales will all be cash only.

There will be limited parking at the Stadium, so please use alternate methods of travel if possible. The nearest station to the ground is Prittlewell, which is served by trains from London Liverpool Street via Shenfield.
