Matt Bloomfield’s side will be aiming to make it two home wins on the bounce when Bristol Rovers visit North Essex in the Papa Johns Trophy on Wednesday evening.
The U’s picked up a valuable three points against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday afternoon courtesy of goals from Alex Newby, Samson Tovide and Luke Hannant.
Now, Matt Bloomfield’s side must turn their attentions to the Papa Johns Trophy with League One Bristol Rovers making the journey to the JobServe Community Stadium in the Round of 32.
And after the win against Doncaster at the weekend, U’s Head Coach Bloomfield says his side will be full of confidence for the next game.
“Nothing changes for us. Obviously we’re really pleased with a lot of elements of the game and aspects of the way we played on Saturday, but there’s still plenty to work on.
“Obviously we’ve got a lot of respect for Joey and the team, and the job that he’s done in getting them promoted last season, and being so competitive in League One as they are.
“But for us, it is about us and working on our own structure and strategy. We want to control what we can and that’s our structure, team shape, the way we press and the way we play with the ball as well.
“Once you get through the group stage it gets a little bit more serious, and people want to keep progressing. We’re no different to that. We want to go out there and give the best performance we can, and we know Joey and his team will be exactly the same.”
