U's boss aiming for result at Gresty Road

11 November 2022

Colchester United Head Coach Matt Bloomfield has said his side will need to be wary of Crewe Alexandra’s threats as they travel to Gresty Road this weekend.

The U’s will be hoping to turn their form around as they return to Sky Bet League Two action in Cheshire on Saturday afternoon. Completing a hat-trick of away games, the U’s have been beaten by Barrow and Newport County, but will be looking to bounce back against the Railwaymen.

And the Head Coach has said he and his side have been putting the work in on the training pitch in the run up to the game.

“They got a really good result against Leyton Orient, the leading team in our division, so that’s a great result for them. We’ve watched their previous games and know they’ve got some good footballers and we know all about their identity and style of play.

“We’ve prepared our team for that, and I try not to change the team much between home and away games. My mindset is to try and win every game we can – there’s no thoughts of going somewhere for a draw.

“The nuances of tactics might have to change slightly, but by no means does that mean negatively. We want to go and attack, create chances, win games and that’s my only thought.

“We’re preparing as thoroughly as we can and the boys have been putting the work in Monday to Friday on the training ground. I’m really pleased with them, their work ethic and quality they’ve shown this week, we hope to take it into the game on Saturday.”
