U's Head Coach aiming to take the positives into Saturday's match

17 November 2022

Colchester United will be hoping to return to winning ways on Saturday afternoon when they host Doncaster Rovers at the JobServe Community Stadium.

And the U’s will be playing a home game for the first time in three weeks, following a tough run of three defeats on the road at Barrow, Newport County and Crewe Alexandra.

But despite last weekend’s defeat to the Railwaymen, Bloomfield has said he wants his players to take the positives from the game heading into the next league game, against play-off chasing Rovers.

“I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but I keep saying to the players that we’re not far away. Obviously we want the outcome, we want the results, but if you’re not getting that then you have to concentrate on the performance and the process.

“We’re trying to keep that going and moving in the right direction, and the results will come – we have no doubt about that. The most important thing for us is keeping the performance, energy and belief levels high, and if we keep putting performances on the table like we did last week, then results are just around the corner.

“We’ve watched Doncaster’s last few games and it looks like they’ve had some good results both home and away recently. They like to get the ball down and pass it out from the back, and we know we’re in for a tough game, but we also have good confidence in ourselves and we’re looking forward to putting that in place on Saturday.”
