Doncaster Rovers are the visitors to North Essex on Saturday afternoon, as the U’s go in search of three points in Sky Bet League Two.
Colchester United put in a good performance against Crewe Alexandra on the road last weekend, but ultimately fell short, conceding a late goal as the home side claimed all three points.
And a man who was part of that performance was Samson Tovide. Making his first league start of the season, the young forward proved a handful for the home defence and will be aiming to do the same this weekend.
“I’m in a team where we need goals and all I can do is give it my best. I want to get my head down, and the gaffer’s taken me under his wing to be encouraging all the time and helping me to make sure I understand the tactics on the pitch.
“There’s a lot of communication, especially from Alan Judge, Luke Hannant and Luke Chambers. They’re always talking to me, telling me to keep my cool, and having them behind me is really helpful.
“All I’m trying to do in every session and game is give 100%. Training has been good and everyone is trying to stay positive, and that’s all you can do in these kinds of situations.”
