Colchester United Football in the Community are proud to support the Rainbow Laces Campaign, which runs from 19th- 31st October this year with Rainbow Laces Day on 26th October.
The collective support of the Rainbow Laces Campaign across the UK has helped to generate a huge amount of awareness around LGBTQ+ people in sport.
Our Primary Stars Officer, Luke Drysdale delivered a Premier League Primary Stars, Rainbow Laces assembly to Year 6 students last week at Millfields Primary School in Wivenhoe. Luke was impressed with the knowledge and discussion that occurred between the pupils and it was a pleasure to attend.
Our PL Kicks attendees from Clacton, Harwich, Shrub End and Greenstead are coming together this week for a tournament to raise awareness for the Rainbow Laces Campaign. Edward King, Health and Inclusion Officer said: “We used the tournament to raise awareness for the Rainbow Laces Campaign that is happening this week. The Premier League supplied us with a pair of rainbow laces for every participant. We hope that the players will see these laces as a constant reminder that football is a game for everyone.”
Around fifty young people are taking part in the tournament at Shrub End and we look forward to some great football.
