Ryan Clampin returned to the fray in Matt Bloomfield’s first win as Colchester United Head Coach on Tuesday evening.

The left-sided defender played the full ninety minutes as the U’s came from behind to beat Charlton Athletic, and has set his sights on more game time under the new Head Coach.

“With new personnel coming in, it’s still down to the team to get results. But I think new people coming in, new ideas, new ways of going about things does give the boys a buzz.

“It’s been a fresh start for all the boys, especially the ones that missed out or haven’t been involved. Everyone has to prove themselves, and do well.

“Any club that gets a new Gaffer in, they have a clean slate. And if you haven’t had the best of starts, it’s nice to have that new person in with fresh eyes.

“It’s nice to finally be back playing, and I feel a lot fitter. Lasting the whole game is, on a personal note, a real positive after being out for ten or eleven months. It’s nice to be getting to where I want to be – still not there yet, but heading in the right direction.

“I want to push myself, and get as much game time as I can here.”
