Newby focused on getting three points against his former employers

Colchester United’s number nineteen admits the U’s should have done better in the run of games they’ve had, but believes the squad are almost there.

Newby is excited to take on his former club at the weekend and believes it’s time to put right the poor start to the season.

The twenty-six-year-old has explained the mood in the dressing room at the moment and what it’s like to have lots of experienced players in the squad.

“I had a little look [at the fixture list] I think it’s always nice to play against one of your former clubs, I obviously still know a lot of people there so I’m relishing the challenge to go up against them and hopefully get the win.

“You can always do more though that’s the thing, we’ve got to take responsibility, work harder, do things better, be more efficient, things like that. And obviously when you start doing things like that, that’s when the form starts to turn.

“I think when you’ve got experienced players, in and around your changing room which we do, we’re fortunate to have that, you all take responsibility for each other, you all take responsibility for results, it’s not totally down to one single person, we’re a team, that’s the message.”
