Colchester United's new number 9 is looking to get off the mark against Hartlepool United this weekend.

Kwesi Appiah was the first deadline day arrival at the club, putting pen-to-paper on a season-long loan with the U's from fellow League Two side, Crawley Town.

The thirty-two-year-old Ghanaian international hit twelve goals in twenty-nine appearances in all competitions last season, and will be looking to replicate that form for his new club.

"It was a move that had been in the pipeline for a good few days. I had a conversation with the gaffer, and it was the right move for me so I'm happy to be here, and I'm looking forward to it.

"It was painful for me not to be a part of the group at Crawley, especially after last year, so I'm looking forward to coming here and picking up where I left off, and continue that momentum.

"I want to play, so if ever I've been in a situation where I've been told 'you're probably not going to get this game time' then for me it's important. It's a short career and you want to make the most of it.

"It's a fresh start, with fresh energy - I'm looking forward to feeling that love again and giving my all."
