Wayne Brown's side will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday when the U's welcome Hartlepool United to the JobServe Community Stadium.
And after strengthening his squad in the last week of the transfer window, Brown has said that taking on the Pools at home this weekend will be the perfect opportunity to get a second league win of the season.
"There were names that came up left, right and centre, and we wanted to make the right signings, that would make a massive difference to us and ultimately give us the best chance of getting results.
"We try to get the tempo of a training session as close to a matchday as we can. That's the only way you will improve, and that's by getting players under stress.
"But we've done our homework on the opposition, obviously they have changed their manager, there has been a bit of a turnaround in players, but I don't envisage them doing anything that differently.
"They haven't had a great start, but their performances have been good. They had a good win in the week in the cup, which will do their confidence no harm at all.
"But we're on our home patch. We have to be more productive and more creative in the final third. I'm not in the business of ifs, buts and maybes, we don't have an excuse mentality and we need to put some points on the board."
