Pre match thoughts from the interim Head Coach

23 September 2022

Colchester United interim boss Steve Ball has been speaking to the press ahead of this weekend’s Sky Bet League Two clash with Rochdale A.F.C.

Speaking about this weekend’s opponents, Steve Ball is ready to start his interim stint as manager with a win, intending to inject some positivity into the JobServe Community Stadium in his albeit short time as the U’s head coach.

Jim Bentley’s side are coming into this game off the back of a 1-0 victory over Liverpool’s U21 side, however their league form has left a lot to be desired for the Dale, picking up just two points in nine games, they sit bottom of the table.

“People are saying it’s a six pointer, I can’t look at it like that, I genuinely can’t, it’s nine games into a forty-odd game season, so yes, they’re struggling down there, we’ve obviously not had the best start. It can be built up however it wants to be, but come three o’clock Saturday it’ll be a game of football that I think we can go and win.

“We’ve had some good and bad times here, but they’re a great set of fans, they want the best for the club and I’m sure they’re anxious now to kick start the season, hopefully we can appoint a new manager very soon but obviously whilst I’m doing it in the short term, I want to leave the team in a better place than before.”
