Ticket Update

New options for postponed matches

8 August 2023

After Colchester United's game on Saturday was postponed, Chairman Robbie Cowling has issued the following:

I write this statement in response to the postponement of our home game against Swindon on Saturday, and to explain with how those that attended the game can manage their tickets for the rearranged fixture.

Firstly, I would like to take the opportunity to say that I appreciate how frustrating the postponement was.

I have a lot of sympathy for everyone involved, particularly those who had to battle their way through the flooded roads and most particularly those who travelled all the way from Swindon.

However, having personally reviewed the steps that were taken by the club to prepare for the game and the decisions made by the match officials on the day, I don’t see how the postponement could have been avoided or made any sooner given the timing and volume of the rainfall and the dangerous conditions that resulted.

In regards to managing your match tickets, we have introduced a postponement feature which provides options that go far beyond the terms and conditions that were agreed to when the tickets were purchased.

Whereas the terms and conditions only state that the ticket remains valid for the rearranged fixture, we have created Postponement Protection which provides ticket holders with additional options whenever a game is postponed.

The options are:

  1. Do nothing and your ticket will remain valid for the rearranged fixture as per the terms and conditions.
  2. Move the ticket to another game whereby you attend another game rather than the rearranged fixture.
  3. Refund the cost of your ticket to a Privilege Card to spend at the club in the future to either buy goods or another ticket.

Options 2 and 3 above are additional options that are available online up until Monday 23rd October.

Simply log in to your account at colutickets.com and where we show your booking for the Swindon Fixture, you will see the options to move the ticket or action the refund.

For those that bought tickets in the away section; please contact the Ticket Office if you already know that you can’t attend a mid-week rearrangement.
