15 December 2023

Colchester United U18 were supposed to take on QPR at Park Drive in Maldon tomorrow morning. The game, however, has now been moved to Florence Park and will be played behind closed doors.

The U’s have had a three-week break since they beat Luton Town in the PDL Cup, with their games against Swansea City and Bournemouth being postponed.

With that in mind, Elliott Ward’s side will aim to secure their second consecutive victory when they face the Hoops this weekend.

Colchester, however, are currently on a bumpy run of form in the league, having not won a game of football since 16th September, when they saw off Wigan Athletic by four goals to one.

So far this season, the U’s have played eleven matches in the Professional Development League, winning two, drawing three and losing six - they are currently sitting in ninth place out of ten in the table.

Last time out in the league, Colchester succumbed to a 6-1 defeat when the faced Cardiff City at Park Drive.

The U’s opponents, QPR, sit at the bottom of the league table, having amassed the same amount of points in the same number of games as Elliott Ward’s side.

Last time out in the league, the West London-side ran out 6-0 winners over Millwall.  Before that, the youngsters succumbed to a 3-2 defeat against AFC Wimbledon in the PDL Cup and a 3-1 defeat against Watford in the league.
