Colchester United have signed Arthur Read.
The midfielder joins the U's from League Two promotion hopefuls Stevenage, having been with the Hertfordshire club for the past couple of years.
Having started is career at Luton Town, he moved to Brentford in the summer of 2019, before joining Stevenage on loan in September 2020.
That move became permanent at the end of the 20/21 campaign, and the twenty three year old made over eighty appearances in his time at the Lamex Stadium.
Read has signed a two and a half year contract at the JobServe Community Stadium, subject to the usual paperwork approvals, and will be available for the U's trip to Harrogate on Saturday.
