Colchester United and its Colchester United Community Foundation, (CUCF), are working together to help tackle some of the cost-of-living challenges facing the local community this winter.
We will be opening the doors to the JobServe Community Stadium and Shrub End Community and Sport Centre, operating Winter Warm Hubs to provide families and those socially isolated and vulnerable with a place to keep warm, socialise and have access to free WiFi, hot drinks, and biscuits.
Commencing the week beginning 9th January 2023, and intended to run through to March 2023, the two venues will be accessible at the following times, providing people with a chance to sit, keep warm and talk to our Colchester United Community Foundation staff:
Winter Warm Hubs:
Tuesdays @ JobServe Community Stadium, CO4 5UP 9.30am-11am
Wednesday @ Shrub End Community Centre, CO2 9BG 9.30am-11am
The hubs are open to all, anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Corin Haines, Chief Executive of CUCF, said of the scheme: "Some people within our communities are facing extreme financial hardship, with many families experiencing crisis for the first time, struggling to provide a warm, comfortable space for themselves and their loved ones this winter."
