Tom Smith has rejoined Colchester United
Smith spent the second half of last season with the U's, but returned to Arsenal following the final game of the campaign.
He left the Gunners at the end of his contract in the summer, and has now been reunited with Ben Garner and his U's teammates just in time for the new season.
He has signed a two year contract, subject to the usual approval from the relevent bodies, keeping him in north Essex until the summer of 2025.
Tom is looking forward to the next stage of his career and explained that knowing most of the squad will help,having signed so close to the season starting.
First, he told cu-fc.com that the recent past has been a bit stressful: "It’s been a long few weeks since leaving Arsenal, but now I’m delighted it’s done and I can get going for the season."
"The bulk of the team is still there along with the manager and the style of play, so it made it quite an easy decision. I didn’t feel like I was out of place, it’s just like home."
