Colchester United have made Ellis Iandolo the first signing of the summer for an undisclosed fee from Swindon Town – subject to ratification from the usual relevant bodies.
Ben Garner’s side get their business underway with the left-sided defender linking up again with the former Swindon boss in North Essex – the pair worked together when Garner took the Robins to the League Two play-offs in the 2021/22 season.
Iandolo has spent his entire professional career with the Robins making 130 outings for the Country Ground side, scoring three goals.
And after penning a two-year contract with Colchester United, the twenty-five-year-old said he couldn’t wait to get going with his new club.
“I’m excited for the new challenge and it feels like a new chapter in my life coming from a club that I was at for the whole part of my professional career.
“I think everyone comes to a point where they need new challenges and they want a change of scenery and for me this was the perfect fit.
“I spoke to the Gaffer on the phone and we had conversations about what our ambitions are this year. After seeing the facilities, everything is very exciting for me so I can’t wait to get going.”
